Bethel Christian Academy

Our Curriculum

Bethel uses a variety of curriculum to help our students be well rounded in their education. We incorporate A Beka Book, Saxon Math, Shurley English, Alpha Omega and more recently Manhattan Virtual Academy. We also have computer programmed learning activities, Bible curriculums and other resources as needed.

ACADEMIC STANDARDS:

Bethel's goal is to have all students meet academic standards through quarterly, semester and term examinations that include oral and written tests, class projects and in other forms of documentation. Students shall maintain no less than a 70% grade average in all classes or will go on academic probation requiring mandatory tutoring and possible dismissal if progress is not shown.


GRADING SCALE:

Bethel uses 2 types of grading scales: Traditional for academics and Subjective for Citizenship, Behavior & Attitude such as attentiveness, cooperation, effort, obedience and responsibility.

Presidential Award for Academic Excellence

This award is won annually by those students who finish the academic year with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and is signed by the President of the United States.



COLLEGE PREP:

Bethel prepares every student to go to college whether or not they choose to attend. All students are given a personal curriculum plan incorporating the Regents recommended High School Standards for the State of Kansas.

TUTORING:

Tutoring is available for any student, whether they are enrolled in Bethel or not, for all subjects - excluding foreign languages. Additional fees are charged for this service.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

With the exception of students who enroll mid-term or who have learning disabilities (refer to "alternative course of study" in the Student Handbook), Students are required to earn 27 credits

COLLEGE CREDIT:

Bethel accepts college credits for graduation from an approved institution. Students must apply to the Administrator in writing prior to enrolling in the class for permission to apply the credit(s) to graduation. Process description and required form located in the Handbook.
